Blog Income Report – September 2017! First Month!
Sharing one’s income has been seen as taboo in our society for years and I’ve never understood why. I’m a firm believer that knowing incomes and struggles of other people are going to help people to make more informed decisions about their futures and their careers. This is why I decided to share my blog income report for my first month of blogging.
I’m obviously not bragging because I made a loss this month, but that’s something that was expected. I’m honestly impressed that I made any income, I assumed it would all be losses.

This blog has gone through ups and downs throughout the month. I started out just wanting to write a blog about everything. My first few posts were all over the place until I figured out what my niche was going to be.
I read tons of blog posts about how important your niche is, and I never believed them. I get it now. I’ve moved towards a more money mentality and teaching people how to be smarter with their money.
I believe that financial education is key, especially for young people! So this is where this blog is headed and I couldn’t be more excited to see where it ends up.
Alright, you came here for the income report. So here it is!
September 2017 Blog Income Report
This was the first month of this blog so obviously, the traffic wasn’t anywhere near where I’d like it to be. The page views are low, under 500 views for the month. In the beginning of the month, it was just me, my mom, my boyfriend, and a couple of friends that were visiting.
By the end of the month, I’m having 1-2 people a day that have been brought here from Pinterest! This means my research into Pinterest marketing has really paid off guys, which is exciting.
As you can see I had a bump in traffic in the middle of the month. This was because I created and shared my facebook page for the blog and my family and friends showed their support. You can join that Facebook page here!
I spent the month being constantly flooded with support from friends and family which was a true motivator and made me super happy. I know that I can get these numbers up through organic traffic! I can do this.
I spent a lot of the month reading tons of income reports and blog monetizing posts so I swear I signed up for everything. However, only 2 things made me even a couple of cents!
Oh and a little disclaimer, any of the income I’ve made this month hasn’t been received because it’s so low I haven’t hit any of the minimums for payment!
Google Adsense: $16.11
The Google AdSense income is what really surprised me this month. I’m not really sure how it’s so high, but I think I had a few too many clicks and shouldn’t get used to that. Is it normal to get 10 clicks with only 311 page views? Weird. I feel like that’s super high but maybe I’m just lucky.

For a while, I had a ShareASale link for tailwind at the side of my site and got $0.50 from a lead who obviously never went through with it. Tailwind was a key to my success on Pinterest and I would recommend it to any blogger just starting out.
ShopStyle Collective: $0.15
ShopStyle pays not only commissions when somebody purchases the product, but they throw you a couple of cents everytime somebody clicks on your link. This is perfect for a Pinterest fashion board because people will click on the picture to see the price and even if it’s high for their budget, you still get a bit of money.
I’ll take this 15 cents and run with it, thank you very much.
And that’s the end of my income for the month, now let’s go into the not so fun stuff. Expenses.
I made a few mistakes in terms of expenses this month. The main one being that I bought a $25 wordpress theme that I only used for about a week and discovered it couldn’t do most of the thigns I wanted it to do. I ended up moving back to a free theme that was more customizable with a ltitle HTML.
Tailwind: $19.35 (15$ American, $19.35 Canadian!)
As I mentioned before, Tailwind is a key factor in being able to schedule my pins effectively and not have to spend the entire day on Pinterest.
It also helps out because I’m able to join Tailwind Tribes that can help me to drive traffic to my site. Cool stuff, worth every penny!
I paid for Bluehost for the entire year all in one lump sum, so this 77.65 is going to be benefitting me until next August! However, it was a pretty big upfront cost and it hurt quite a bit to pay that much haha. I better make back every penny this year.
Want to start a blog? Bluehost is one of the absolute best hosting platforms for a WordPress powered website!
Blog Theme: $25
As mentioned before, I purchased a $25 blog theme that I was not happy with. It’s okay, I’ve learned my lesson. As a newbie blogger, I should have just stuck with a free one and discovered how far I could take it. It’s okay. I’m liking how my site looks now!
Income – Expenses = -105.24
goals for October
My goals for October are to break $20 on AdSense and find $5 of other Blog Income from somewhere. In addition, I’d love to break 500 page views this month. So, That’ll be cool.
Right now I’m around 40 likes on Facebook, gonna bring that up to 50!
Thank you so much for reading everybody. I’m super excited to see how far we can take this blog and where it’ll end up someday.
