Christmas may be my absolute favorite time of year. I’m always waiting for it and so ready for it to be here and somehow still it sneaks up on me. I don’t think there has been a Christmas in my entire life where I was totally financially ready for the money I’d need to buy the things I felt like my family members deserved. I really wish I had some tips and tricks to make money for Christmas, so I decided to make this list to maybe help you out.
I hope you find a good option for you in this post and are able to implement some of the strategies to rock this Christmas and not get any further into debt!
SHOVEL SNOW/RAKE LEAVES
This time of year is the worst when it comes to manual labour related to the weather. Anytime someone comes to my door offering to shovel my snow I take them up on that offer. You could charge $10-20 per driveway and work your way up the street and see how much you end up with. You could also do this with raking leaves if your area doesn’t have any snow yet and the leaves are still falling. All you need is a shovel and/or rake and some warm gloves!
Every mall in the country will be hosting a Santa during their opening hours and someone has to play the role! You could also put up ads to be a personal Santa, my grandmother once hired a Santa to hand out presents at our family Christmas dinner because she wanted it to be magical for my baby sister who was 4 and is now 9 years old and still talks about it.
If you work as a commercial Santa at a mall, the outfit will be provided. If you’d rather do private parties, you can buy a decent Santa costume cheap on Amazon!
OPEN A BANK ACCOUNT
This tip is just for my Canadian readers, sorry! Do you pay bank fees? Like ridiculously high bank fees? What would you say if I told you I had the key to no bank fees plus a FREE $25 just for signing up with Tangerine?

SELL UNWANTED STUFF
Chances are on December 25th you’ll be bringing in some junk from loved ones that you don’t want but can’t throw away. You’re going to have to get rid of some of the stuff you already have so you don’t build up too much clutter.
Don’t throw it out! Sell it! If you use Facebook Marketplace you can find a lot of your things a new home and make some quick money while doing it! Wow! That was a lot of exclamation points!
November and December are BIG travel seasons and there are a lot of pets out there that need care while their mommy and daddy go visit grandma. Pet sitting is one of the easiest ways for you to make money. All you need to do is throw an advertisement up on Kijiji or Craigslist and be super nice to the pet owners so they trust you with their animals!
You can charge like $50 a day for pet sitting and make $100 in a weekend and have a cute animal to hang out with!
DRIVE FOR UBER
As the weather grows colder there are fewer people wanting to walk home after a night of drinking at a Christmas party or even just walk to the store down the street. Driving for Uber can be a great way to make some decent money this time of the year. What is Uber? Uber is a ridesharing company where you can sign up to be a driver and drive your own car and make money picking people up just as a taxi service would.
Want a free Uber ride to test it out before you drive? If you use my code for your first ride, it’ll be free for you! Enter tayloro1573ue when you sign up to get a free ride!
BE A PERSONAL SHOPPER
When I say be a personal shopper, I don’t mean shop for rich people. If you put out an ad for personal shopping services for Christmas you can buy gifts for the elderly who are unable to deal with the busy malls and don’t really understand Amazon or other online services. They’re old-fashioned and chances are they don’t even know what to buy all their grandkids. That’s where you come in!
You can give them gift ideas over the phone, collect money from them and then go purchase their gifts for a fee!
Everybody loves a good Christmas cookie. They’re cute and they’re delicious. Chances are there are people in your neighborhood that want to enjoy delicious Christmas cookies but either don’t have the time or don’t have the skills to make them! If you know how to bake and enjoy doing it, try advertising your cookies on Facebook or through flyers in mailboxes. Chances are you can make a few hundred dollars and you start early.
Amazon has some really great, cheap supplies for Christmas cookies. If you want to really make good money, you’ll want them to be cute shapes so make sure you get cookie cutters!
GET CASH BACK FROM EBATES
If you’re going to be doing any of your shopping online this Christmas, Ebates is the place for you. Ebates gives you cash back when making online purchases at places where you already shop. Don’t you love cash back? And it can really add up and Ebates will send you a nice check sometime in the new year! This may not be a way to make money before Christmas, but it’s a nice way to get a cheque for shopping! Pretty cool stuff.
OFFER GIFT WRAPPING SERVICES
Have you ever been wrapping presents on Christmas Eve and just been completely overwhelmed? Me too, and I absolutely LOVE wrapping gifts. There are so many people out there that absolutely hate wrapping gifts and would definitely pay someone to do it for them.
Most companies charge up to $5 a package and you could undercut them and charge around $2 if they supply the paper. If a family gives you 50 gifts, and it takes you 2 hours, that’s $100 EASY! If they would rather you pick out the paper and they just drop off the presents, you could charge a dollar more per gift. You can get some really great, really cute paper and bows on Amazon for cheap.
START A BLOG
Are you really good at deciding what things someone should buy for their family members? Do you know where to get all the good deals for Christmas? If so, you should start a blog. If you started a blog you could focus on affiliate marketing through gift guides for people and create posts about great deals on toys and gifts to bring in the traffic.
I really hope you all have a spectacular Christmas season and really take in all the joy! Christmas is a magical time and I’m sure you can get out of it without debt! You got this. If you have any other ways people can make money for Christmas, be sure to leave them in the comments.
